Big doings in the household: replaced the old fridge that used to sing to Chita and pee on the floor with a new fridge that is much quieter and drier and hopefully more energy-efficient,but the built in ice machine (! fancy) still sings songs to Chita so we’re okay here. post: Can I just say that I love that wallpaper?
You know, I don’t hate the wallpaper. But when we redo the kitchen, it’s gotta go, because it’s peeling in some places, and also because we’re probably moving some of the walls, so.
It’s certainly original to the house’s construction, in 1950, as is the Formica paneling on the wall behind me as I take this photo. (Also original: the plastic corner protector you can see on the near wall there.) (Also also original: the linoleum floor which is torn and stained and my least favorite bit of the house.) (Also also also original: the window you can nearly see, which fell apart and Dude and I had to glue the sash back together with him on one side and me on the other holding the glass in until we could get it to stay.)
I don’t know what we’ll do in its place. It’s the only bit of the original decor left that I like. Maybe I’ll get a high-quality photo of a bit of it, print it life-size, and frame it and hang it on the wall as a memento of the old kitchen, LOL. (Your picture was not posted)

Date: 2021-01-20 02:34 am (UTC)I saved a little square of the linoleum and the fireplace tile that I replaced when I redid the downstairs, with the intent of memorialising them that way. Haven't quite found the right frame yet, but it'll come to me! I have time; I'd like to replace the kitchen counters this year or next, and then I can put a piece of that in, too.
