The part where you’ve got to go to the mods and rely on their say-so of what counts as “explicit”? That’s a subjective call, right there, and one that I’d maybe chance for a short work, but not one like I’m planning to write.

I’d rather rely on my own judgement and then tag accordingly, especially for a long complex work, but your faith in that whole process is super -touching.

I personally would not attempt to do justice to a subject that complex while also laboring under an additional burden of needing to meet arbitrary censorship guidelines. I’d rather do what the story needed, and if it wound up super-dark, tag it honestly based on the end result.

But if your story’s just not that complex, then I guess you are built different.
