man sorry guys i got real Bad for a while this afternoon (she’d put the urn! at his place at the table! MOM WHY well i can’t blame her) but i feel much better. watching some_stars https://tmblr.co/m0l4iDjxkB7VuWm6d1vXtOQ stream Witcher 3 on Twitch helped a bunch, eating a lot of cheese and some Tater Tots helped a bunch, getting a spate of lovely comments from people who were willing to spend some of their Christmas Eve (or Thursday night, whichever) reading my shit helped a lot, and the hefty two-ounce pour of bourbon helped a lot. Lots of things.

Tomorrow will be fun, Dude’s family (ok his mom, who is lovely, and her sister, who is extremely entertaining, 82 and from Old Country), and her niece, who is like 50 and dryly witty, and the niece’s dog, who is a german shepherd mix with A Lot Of Energy. All of us have been extremely isolated and are coming briefly together to mingle our pod and then going our separate way– i’m the only one who’s been out of the house basically at all, and i haven’t had my mask off inside another person’s house since thanksgiving. so.

And then Saturday I can go see MM and DF and the BABIES who are of course not babies, and then Sunday I can see my mom. Zoom funeral NYE. We’ll make this work. It’ll be a thing. It’ll be okay. (Your picture was not posted)

I somewhat deliberately didn't comment in the first wave of sympathy comments because . . . Look, it takes a while, you know? It takes a long goddamned time sometimes, and condolences aren't a sprint, they are for sure an endurance event. I'm sorry it was bad for you today. I'm glad you're going to have some supportive in-person contact, and I'm glad that some creature comforts (food, comments, vitamin w(hiskey)) are helping. I have been thinking of you, and I will be. I would cook you cheesy tots and pour your drinks for you if I could.
