i have to VPN into a remote computer to print out orders for my warehouse guy who is like, a state and a half away, and like

printer wasn’t responding, i called, they were like i dunno, warehouse guy’s not in yet, it has paper in it, dunno

he gets in, i dunno, it has paper in it, here i’ll just restart the computer you’re in the middle of working on without any notice even though it’s working just fine, oh now it’s not coming back up

song and dance, panicked voicemails to boss who is on vacation, texts to *my* boss who is on vacation, etc., etc etc., hours of angst, warehouse guy has me on speaker while he grunts “uhhhhhhh” a lot as he thinks it over.

THE PRINTER CABLE WAS UNPLUGGED

NOBODY LOOKED

IT IS FIVE HUNDRED MILES AWAY FROM ME THIS IS NOT MY FAULT and i could not have prevented this

FIRST THING I ASKED WAS “is the printer like, all good? nothing unplugged, sure that jam is cleared, sure there’s enough paper in it?” and he’s like yeah, no, yeah yeah, it’s fine
