this is no joke. i looked around the reviews of several different candles just in case it could’ve been a single bad batch but nope. [image: image] [image: image] [image: image] [image: image] [image: image] [image: image]
these screenshots are only from like 4 or 5 different candles but i could’ve grabbed plenty more.
y’all, seriously, loss of smell is a possible effect of covid. if things don’t smell/taste as strong as you remember GET TESTED and ISOLATE. if someone you know is complaining about their candles not having a scent, inform them and encourage them to get tested. and wear a fucking mask, y’all.
What a fuckin metric to see the disease!
Hey, former Yankee Employee here to direct you specifically to the screenshot that mentions “Christmas Cookie” and “Black Cherry.”
Because it’s definitely not a problem with the product if they can’t smell those two.
Some of the STRONGEST SCENTS I’ve ever sold in that store include Balsam & Cedar, Fresh Cut Roses, Christmas Cookie, and Black Cherry.
If you can’t smell a candle that literally smells like an over-sweetened jar of cough syrup, it’s not the candle, it’s the covid.
A data scientist on Twitter followed up on this https://twitter.com/kate_ptrv/status/1332398737604431874 and there are some graphs, including this one, and a whole bunch of analysis and sources.
What a fucking thing, eh?
[image description: a screenshot from the above-linked Twitter thread where Kate Petrova, a research assistant at Harvard, shows a scatter-plot graph entitled “Top 3 scented vs. unscented candles Amazon reviews 2020″ wherein the scented candle line shows a strong downward trend while the unscented candle line trends only mildly downward.]
