help me out here.

during the lockdown right at the beginning i wrote to a bunch of people. some wrote back. one of them was my middle-little sister. she sent me a card. inside it was a sticker. she seems to think that this sticker will hold great significance for me. she was like yeah here you go!

things were hectic so i was just like yeah this is great ha ha, and set it aside.

i just found it again, and i remain completely baffled:

what the FUCK is this thing and what is it supposed to mean to me?? she genuinely seemed to think I would be delighted and i have never seen this before in my life and I don’t know how to Google it?

if it matters, it is holographic-shiny in the middle.

Really it was like this was going to be the punchline of some hilarious joke, but there’s zero context, there’s no words on the thing, it came in a clear plastic envelope with a sticker on one side that says “Thank you!” and a sticker on the other that says “Fragile Handle With Care”, and none of this means a goddamned thing to me.

The worst thing is, M-L is only 2 years younger than me, it’s not like this is some The Kids’ Humor Is Opaque situation, she was fully born in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and eighty-one, and I am far more Extremely Online than she is. (She tells me all about the Tumblr memes she sees on Facebook that are from like 2017 at this point and I’m like oh yes dear that’s nice.)

ok ok ok fine, you guys, I sucked it up, and i texted her, and I was like what the fuck is this sticker you sent me, no one i know can tell me what it is and I don’t know

apparently there is a webcomic, largely on Instagram, now with a book out, called Barely Functional Adult https://www.instagram.com/barelyfunctionaladult/?hl=en, and that’s the titular character.

So now you know. And now I know.

She assumed I’d linked her to it, but I don’t really… use Instagram like that… so I don’t know where she found it but I clearly was not involved.
