Reno the cat woke me at 1:15 in the morning begging to go outside, which is annoying as shit, but more annoying was that I could not get back to sleep afterward, so I got very little sleep last night.

Farmkid is in a Busybody Know It All sort of mode today and she is On My Last Nerve and oh boy. Well, I am an adult. I can deal with this.

(Me: “You are distracting BFF by putting your feet on her chair and she has asked you to stop. You need to respect her personal space and keep your feet to yourself.” Farmkid, archly, “Her chair is distracting me.” Me, internally: I will rip your feet off. Out loud: “Her chair has no choice of where to be. You have a choice of what you do with your body. Do not put your feet onto her chair, and there will not be a further issue.” I deserve a fucking medal. Currently, Farmkid is standing on her rotating desk chair to do her math while the teacher is Google Meet-ing with them, but since her mic is muted I am just letting her fidget as she will.)

y'know, I never had kids either. This is my sister's daughter and her BFF, who are co-isolated in their remote schooling pod, and I'm overseeing school twice this week. I can keep this up for a few hours a week but man am I close to my limit today, LOL.
My sister has slightly more patience than I do but not much, IDK how she survives this.

Farmkid's been "correcting" me and her mother when we speak. Like, her mom said, "when you're done eating take your plate over by the sink," and she put on this very haughty voice and said "you mean when I'm full", and like, you little shit, that is not what your mother said, but she actually didn't specify what done meant, and this isn't up for discussion, but mostly there was absolutely no need to even bother saying that? let alone in that tone of voice? you wanna get punched a lot as an adult absolutely keep this shit up for the rest of your life, kiddo.

How old is farmkid, again? Becasuse if she's in the range of eight to eleven, that seems...extremely on brand.

I swear, parenting requires both patience and bravery. Even part-time child minding seems like an heroic act.
