all this “i voted did you vote yet!” stuff is really starting to stress me out [and, full disclosure, this was prompted by Instagram just now, not y’all, so don’t get upset yet] because a) this is the first year ever that NYS has allowed early voting, b) said early voting HAS NOT STARTED YET for us, c) I am leaving town the day early voting starts and will not be back in town until election day, and d) I will be back in town on election day so I did not apply for an absentee ballot because I will not be absent and felt like it would be dishonest. (and also, this is genuinely true, they don’t count absentee ballots unless the race is super close and likely none of my local races will be super close, so I won’t even be in the stats if I cast one absentee.)
so. No! I haven’t voted! Yes, I have a voting plan! Non-US peeps, I get that you’re invested in our elections but the signal to noise ratio is not great and is getting worse and with love I am begging you to Stop! Yes I am aware that I will likely wind up rotting in line for ages but that’s okay I am prepared! oh my gosh.
No, really, you don’t have to stop reblogging informational posts but please for the love of God make sure they’re not disinformation, ESPECIALLY if you are not actually a US voter yourself. (the one where it’s like “if the poll worker writes on your ballot” jesus christ, cut that out.) (oh my god ALL the ones that are like “in this extremely specific location here’s advice!” and then a reblog is like ”but this doesn’t apply everywhere of course look it up in your area” that is USELESS fucking NOISE you guys.) I would really like to encourage non-US people to cut that shit out entirely but I understand, American exceptionalism has really brought this on ourselves, but really, for real, you’re not helping. This is me, begging you to stop. Everyone I follow, I follow because I love, but some of you are on thin fucking ice.
I am so fucking stressed-out about this. I get that everyone else is too. But more fucking noise is not fucking helping.

My best bet to vote may very well be election day. I am fully expecting this year to be the one where someone gives me shit for my "deeds not words" pin. And I'll patiently explain it's a reproduction suffragette pin. (Last year one of the ladies checking IDs noticed it and complimented me.)
