You are, no joking, one of my favorite writers. I don’t know if you were a fucking great writer before that million words, but you are now. How many of the things we love in your fics have absolutely no basis in canon? That’s all you. And you have written a metric fuckton this year alone. Maybe get out of your head for a bit? Crafts are good. Hugging puppies, that sort of thing. *hugs*

I am leaving for the farm on Friday night and will barely be online for the next week, which is mostly To The Good, and only somewhat… less… well… I mean, I like to be helpful, but sometimes I get chicken guts in my hair and it is so gross and I once cut myself on a chicken rib while it was inside the chicken and just, it’s gross sometimes, so it’s hard to look forward to Processing Day, you know? But I did finally come up with a good hashtag to talk about the farm. C’mon, #moonlighting as an eviscerator is a great hashtag.

I still get Anxiety etc there but when you’re running around and doing physical labor and chasing a small child and like, livestock and stuff, it’s harder for it to really get its teeth into you. (THERE ARE BABY PIGS AND I AM GOING TO TAKE LOVING PORTRAITS OF EVERY ONE SO BRACE YOURSELVES.)

But thank you, you have been a great help to said writing. I dunno, some of my earlier writings are okay, but I was actually just discussing that with @kimya-gee last night– everyone goes through dry spells and when you first start writing again, it doesn’t matter who you are or how good you are, that first little bit is so gross and awkward and icky!

So I’m really gonna try not to like, stop writing for any amount of time. But slowing down a little might be okay.

The million words is since 2012 I think! Oh wait, there’s some stuff on there imported from 2004, so it’s not even. I started posting in earnest in 2013 but there’s old stuff in there.

… Huh. 2013 I started late and racked up 215,000ish words (partly by dint of posting older completed stuff), 2014 was 380,000 words, 2015 was 375,000, and in 2016 I’m five months in and at 120,000, so actually I’m sort of on track for an average year, if you ignore the fact that most years I post as I go and this year I’ve actually written another 100k or so already that’s not yet posted. But stats-wise, I’m not actually crazy. Maybe?

(I used to do end-of-year-stats posts on LJ and I think 300,000 is about average for me in an employed year that wasn’t eaten headfirst by roller derby or similar. That’s actually what happened– I was ticking along and then got a hobby and didn’t write for a solid six or seven years. BAD IDEA.)

Anyway. Sometimes people are, I dunno, they seem to be under the impression that I’m some kind of talented person, and that’s not it at all, you just gotta grind. I don’t have the hustle but I have the grind.
