I almost forgot about this but like. halfway through my journey today, somewhere near Syracuse (east side of Syracuse, I rather think; somewhere in the 30s, exit-wise, but I don’t recall) I was driving along on a featureless bit of road and off to the right was the usual wide grassy verge and then a bit of a fence, right, and I was in the right lane of the two going my direction, going like, 78, as usual, and i glanced over at the verge and

there was just, a cow, a Holstein cow, the black and white kind

and she was just galloping along next to the fence, on the road side of the fence, going at a pretty good clip, the opposite direction from traffic

and I was like

what do I do

and I rather quickly settled on, well, nothing, it’s not my business and I can’t really do anything without creating a hazard of my own, there are many many other cars and even police cars about, and there is nothing I can do about this cow

but she was on her way somewhere, trucking along at a pretty good clip, and did not look like she was intending on stopping

so anyway I’ll never know what that was about or how it played out but I sure hope she didn’t run into traffic because that would kill her and also whoever hit her. Holsteins are really big critters.

I mean. i don’t know what I could’ve done, so I don’t exactly feel bad about it, but I was definitely like uhhhh what the fuck

Other than that the drive passed entirely without incident and nothing at all interesting happened except that I’d listened to nothing or some light choral music for most of the drive and then I put on Sleep’s The Sciences as I waited to roll through the tollbooth so when I pulled into the driveway at home it was, well, really loud stoner metal, and dude didnt hear my car but he heard the music and was like “what the fuck” and came out the door to find me, it was pretty entertaining. Yet more entertaining was that he mis-identified it as Black Sabbath. Nope.
