actually ART’s students having a shrine for it somewhere in the ship is so funny, as a concept. like. they’re not aware that ART is anything but a slightly smarter bot-pilot and so when things like their favorite beverage already being made in the mess, just for them, to suddenly finding the exact kind of education module they need to study, to finding a small secret place that’s perfect for studying happen, most of them ascribe it to glitches and coincidence and luck.
of course some tired, stressed student who’s just gotten a little happiness boost from a nice warm beverage is gonna leave a little trinket in one of the nooks and crannies of the ship, it’s only polite. of course someone who lived through a failed raider attack is gonna do the same. soon enough everyone knows about the good-luck shrine, and whenever something goes right, or you need something to go right, you leave a little gift. doesn’t have to be much – oragami animals and string bracelets and memory clips full of media – but it’s something. no one ever sees any one of these gifts leave the shrine but many of them do go missing, and everyone agrees that the ship (or whatever the source of good luck is) is taking them. if someone sees a string bracelet they made for their ship tied tightly around a railing somewhere in the ship, then, well… that’s just a sign of an accepted gift.
