I got this laid out and mostly stitched down yesterday:
[image description: an embroidery hoop holding beige canvas upon which is pinned down several swatches of fabric, one beige with embroidery, one shiny gold, and a swatch of black tulle overlaid with denim cutouts of the letters of the word “sorry”, all pinned down with black glass-headed pins. /end]
It’s gonna say “Sorry For Party Rocking” but I think the other words will be done in laid-and-couched embroidery, or possibly padded satin stitch. Because I have so much fucking embroidery floss.
While I was working on this, MM sat next to me on the couch fishing through a plastic shoebox Dude’s mom gave me on Wednesday night, entirely filled with lengths of embroidery floss apparently salvaged out of undone cross-stitch kits, and she wound all the lengths of floss sorted by color onto little cardboard tabs that were also in the box. She got like, ¼ of the way through what’s in there, and a lot of the kits had a single length of multi-strand crewel wool in them, and I think those were intended to be the base layer of satin-stitched outlines or letters– but I don’t know– but I’m gonna use them that way.
Do I know what I’m doing? No.
