aw shit i don’t mean to be a spoiler but like
when the Usurper killed the then-current Emperor of Nilfgaard he tortured him first by turning his son into a hedgehog and then the hedgehog escaped and lived a cursed half-existence for like 20 years and gradually through sheer willpower managed to regain control of his human faculties and eventually, well
he was Duny, that’s who Duny was
anyway he goes back to Nilfgaard and kills the Usurper but in the process, Pavetta leaves Ciri behind and then somehow she dies as he’s attempting to fake his own death as Duny and it’s very complicated and I missed that bit?
tl;dr he started all those wars partly to get Ciri back, so like.
