So my Dude needs to take three weeks of vacation before July.
I asked him uhhh where he wants to go. He said he wants to be able to leave the house without a bunny suit.
A-hahaha-ha. Heh. Oh. Sigh. Aha.
Yep.
Meanwhile Western NY hospitals, select ones, are beginning to have elective surgeries again. While simultaneously laying off staff. How that’s going to work, nobody knows. They need to cut costs; the major costs are personnel. Unfortunately, the way they generate revenue are… procedures… that require staff… to perform. HMMMMMMM. In short, we won’t be seeing much of Dr. Friend for the forseeable future.
Dude also texted me that he burnt up one of our wooden cutting boards so I have no idea what’s going on there. I also got a notice from my computer mournfully asking me to connect to the backup server because it hasn’t been able to perform a backup in ten days and well, sorry bro, the backup server’s in Buffalo and you can’t reach from here, so.
I’ve been here exactly a month as of Tuesday. I am sure I’ve already whined. I’m going to try to get some more writing done in the 20 minutes left in this Barbie movie in the next room. Oh my gosh.
We dug a bunch of holes in the backyard; I peeled up a bunch of sod and MathMom used the wheelbarrow to put it in all the low spots where stuff has subsided or stumps have come out or the kids have dug holes or whatever, and we’re going to maybe throw some flower seeds in there or maybe just… not. Who knows. I don’t know. It was something to do, the kids loved hunting for worms, and nothing matters. It’s going to rain all week. That’s it. That’s all I got.
I’m good. It’s good. We’re fine. It’s fine. I had a point but I don’t remember what it was. Whatever man, whatever.

Date: 2020-05-01 08:10 am (UTC)I am looking at my cheerily-booked fortnight in July/August slightly sadly; I cannot see any way we'll be going to Leiden as planned.
Considering shifting my body clock to do virtual Worldcon - which will be on New Zealand time - and back again, just for the novelty. (all the fun of jetlag, none of the 24-hours sitting on planes each way) Spouse and teenager are halfway timeshifted there already.
