You have to give tor.com your email and you can only get one of them per day (the link’s only live 24 hrs for each one) but it is WELL WORTH IT, these are four of my favorite novellas ever and I promise, I promise, you will love these fucking books. I am losing my mind waiting for the novel to come out next month. SO SOON!

You’ve probably heard of Murderbot already, but if not, well, the premise is that Murderbot is a cyborg security robot-person that jailbroke its* own mind after something horribly traumatic happened to it, and it spends these four novellas mostly wanting to watch TV shows (it is obsessed with soap operas) but reluctantly allowing itself to be more and more human and have more and more social interactions in order to save the people it reluctantly admits to itself that it cares about.
(*It is determinedly agender and uses it/its pronouns for itself, this is a very deliberate choice that is examined in the text; it has mixed feelings about its own sentience/humanity and absolutely none of it is a careless authorial choice, I promise you.)
And despite all the stuff above, the book is both wryly funny and absolutely emotionally devastating, so I promise, I promise you’ll love it, yes you, if you’re reading this, you’ll love it, so go download those links.

Do you happen to know if they are DRM - free? I want to have my phone read them to me, especially since the audio books are narrated by someone with an obviously male voice, where it should be androgynous! But that only seems to work with ebooks that are DRM - free.
