I’m trying to be Responsible about the angst but what keeps happening is that I keep making it worse so I should probably stop.
I am glad the worldbuilding seems to work for people. Mostly worldbuilding is the entire reason I want to write stories anyway? Sometimes it’s very transparently wanting to be somewhere else– usually I don’t write things set in the current modern era so I can lavish a ton of attention on things like– what’s normal to eat for breakfast, how is it prepared without like, gas stoves and Revereware saucepans etc, who makes the clothes, out of what, what’s expensive and what’s easy to come by, how do people get around, where does the food come from, what do you do with leftovers?
some of that probably spills over when I write in modern settings. I have literally only ever written in modern Earth settings for fanfic. I wasn’t sure I knew how, before.
I am sort of guiltily indulging in worldbuilding in the SW universe without reading, like, any of the background material that already exists. I look a little bit, and like, okay it’s duracrete and transparisteel, but I basically just read a reblogged post and like one page on Wookieepedia, and then I’m just like I do what I want and the atmosphere is such that so far nobody’s given me any shit.
Then my secondary concern is banter. So as long as I get plenty of that, I’m thrilled. That’s all. I write because I want to go to a place and hang out with some people and make pretty boys cry.

You are going to love chapter 9, then. Well. I mean. A little. Love might not be the word.
