Ok but I really must protest the incredible lack of Goblin Emperor fic where Maia’s household figure out how absolutely touch-starved and skin-hungry he is.
Why must I be hurt like this
…Okay, but to play Satan a minute here: Goblin Emperor fic where Maia’s household figures out how touch-starved he is…. and then can’t do anything about it because he’s the emperor, so they all just watch in agony as he suffers, wishing there were something they could do.
Hey satan maybe clock out for today?
*snickering* You win, I did in fact clock out after that XD
The nice thing is though, eventually he’ll have a Csethiro, and realize what’s going on, and everybody else will *also* realize what’s going on, and suddenly the emperor and empress’s bedtimes have been moved up to eight o'clock because *literally everybody* conspires to toss them into the Snuggle Zone!
So what happens is, Maia’s household catches on pretty quickly that he flinches any time you touch him, and so they get very, very good at performing all of their duties without incidentally, accidentally touching his skin
until Csethiro comes along and is touching him and they are all wincing inside and being very careful about holding their ears upright until Kiru gets detailed because You’re A Girl Too to tell her that Maia doesn’t like being touched
to which Csethiro responds, “You fucking idiots, he’s starved for touch”
at which point the household is in rather grand disarray (which sends Maia into a fit of nervousness because he doesn’t know why everyone is so upset, did he do something wrong?) as they panic over where did the Empress learn to say fuck? Is that allowed? Is that even possible? Maia doesn’t say fuck -
so that Csethiro is forced to get them back on track by locking eyes with Csevet, who is after all behind this because he’s behind everything, while she puts her hand to Maia’s chin and Csevet watches Maia tilt his head into it and tension just visibly drains out of him
at which point the entire household has to rapidly redraw the strategy for every moment of their daily lives, starting with Deret “Judges as he Breathes” Beshelar offering Maia a hand to stabilize him coming down stairs he descends every day of his life
Maia never does figure out what made Beshelar blush.
