i would never
Mar. 2nd, 2020 02:43 pmI'm not even gonna post this on Tumblr because too many people follow me there and I don't want to start Bitchy Discourse.
I would never be ungrateful for comments on AO3, I love them so much. But.
Sometimes somebody says something and you're like... I... sort of... maybe can see where you were going with this but it turns out you actually said something kind of mean.
I got a comment on one of the recent Witcher fics where the person said something precisely to the effect of, "Wow your writing is getting so much better!"
I don't recognize the handle. This isn't someone I've interacted with before, that I know of?? I don't really...
I looked it up. "You're definitely getting better at writing! Can't wait to read more of your work!"
What. What?
Anyway. On reflection, I really am not sure what this person was going for, nor am I sure how to respond, but I figured I could do my headtilting over here. What on earth does that mean? What could this person possibly have intended to say?
LOL. Who knows.
In other news, my phone fell in the sink while I was washing my hands, and despite being marginally waterproof, the charging port now doesn't recognize a charging cable, which normally wouldn't be a crisis right away but I didn't charge the phone all weekend soooooo that's sort of a problem now. Oh well!
EDITED TO ADD: Oh I see now, this person commented on some of my older stuff at, like, the same time.
So they're remarking, I guess, that my newer writing is better than my older writing?
Sort of a weird observation to make but I guess I'll take it. The old story was four years old, I guess. !! Hm.

Date: 2020-03-02 09:39 pm (UTC)Part of the problem of being prolific lately is that I do often get comments that are directly in response to something I said that I don't remember saying, though, so that's actually a helpful thing to point out.
Like, I don't *actually* think shorter is better for sex scenes in all situations, but I was genuinely proud of having managed such a minimal one when that's not my normal style. So, that's ok. I can Abide, with that. LOL!
