I spent a bunch of time in Iceland driving, unexpectedly, and so the photography was left up to
zobar2 much of the time. He was a bit self-conscious about it and mostly just held the shutter button down, and I was busy driving, but I did art-direct a few shots. Like this one. “The sky looks amazing behind us,” I said, sparing a glance for the rearview mirror as I tried not to drive into a fjörd. “I can’t get a shot through the rear windshield,” he said, harried. “Don’t,” I said. “Use the mirror.”
So here we are.
(The thing about driving along fjörds is that you change direction a lot so you get to see sunrises and sunsets [which in midwinter are concurrent, and in the south] from many angles. Still managed to get the sun straight in my eyes on the two occasions it actually appeared on the entire trip. That photo’s coming up later.)

Date: 2020-01-15 01:52 pm (UTC)I have another shot like that, which I took while the passenger in a boring drive across NY on the Thruway, only it's a really dramatic summer sunset. I wonder where that ended up; I have a print of it sitting in a pile at home and other than that I don't think I ever did anything with the photo.
