It’s a two-lane-each-way divided street full of strip malls, and to go anywhere is a hellscape of wait-for-the-light U-turns and inescapable mazes of parking lots. It’d be 15 minutes to get to the nearest drug store, 2.5 miles away, and 15 minutes back, and::: today is Crunch Monday, the biweekly date whereon Amazon gives us our money. (If you sell on Amazon, they hold your money to do it all in one biweekly deposit, whereupon they give you everything you’ve uploaded tracking information for; it’s a batch process that runs randomly, so if you sell $20k of stuff over the weekend, if you can get it all shipped by the time your deposit gets processed, you get the money, and if you can’t, you have to wait 14 more days for that $20k, because amazon does what the fuck it wants. So every other Monday I am basically chained to my desk until… sometimes it’s 10am, sometimes it’s noon, sometimes it’s 2pm, just trying frantically to get the entire day’s work done before that randomized process completes.)
So, instead I powered through, then left at 3pm and had an ice cream sundae that I think saved my life.
