In our district, if you don’t eventually come out to pick up your kid (second grade or younger) from the bus, said bus continues on the route and you have to go fetch them from the transpo office when you finally escape your meeting that overran for no good reason. Ask me how I know.

I don’t know how long they’d wait, here– it’s a big highway, and no way around for the traffic, so I don’t think they’d sit there very long. They have said that the bus driver would call dispatch and dispatch would call the number on file, but I assume they’ll only try again after they’ve dropped everyone off. Since Farmkid is literally the third kid who gets off the bus, this would be a much longer ride for her and she’d probably be sad about it. I wonder if you could drive around and try to catch the bus. Probably not. What a mess.
On slaughter day, Farmsister was frantically trying to get the last fucking chicken packaged when her phone alarm went off, and the bag kept tearing, so we finally sent her running off. She said she was envisioning her child saying to the bus driver, all unwitting, “Oh, Mom’s probably busy slaughtering still, it’s slaughter day!” and the poor bus driver calling Dispatch and them expediently calling CPS because what is this child talking about.
But it just seems so silly. How close do you have to be? Can you wave from the window? Would they be able to see you? Do you have to be in the driveway? I’m just sort of worried.
