Wow, I failed completely to express myself there, I am sorry to make you feel disrespected.
oh, it wasn’t you– I understood your point completely, and you’re absolutely right, people do say that! but it’s incorrect, is all, and for all it’s widespread, it’s the sort of thing that people really ought to reconsider. I wasn’t feeling disrespected by you at all, I don’t blame you one bit for saying it, because it’s true, people do use the phrases interchangeably!
And it’s not like it’s a totally unreasonable thing for people to say given the culture we live in and the history thereof, I just really wanted to express why it’s incorrect, not that it’s like, morally reprehensible of people to say that. it’s just wrong, and can cause harm, and people haven’t thought it through, and the more counterexamples I can put out into the world, the more I can encourage people *to* think it through, the better off we all are, right?
I’m sorry that it sounded like I was yelling at you, though. That’s not at all what I meant! You were right, and should say it, because that way I get to explain myself.
