I was talking a little about this on Dreamwidth earlier, but one of my coworkers brought his kids to work yesterday and they were hanging out in the office upstairs, and the little boy, who is about five, got bored in the empty one next door (his sister was reading, but he can’t really read yet, so he has more trouble entertaining himself) and came into my office. and my other coworker was sort of annoyed because he was distracted, but I was super delighted, because he was extremely cute and much more entertaining than my work.
the vignette I shared over on DW was his observations about rainbows, which were cute. but then he came back and mugged me for spearmint gum, which he called “spirit”, which was fantastic. Then he showed me his best move for taking out a bad guy, which was a “warehouse kick”, which involved jumping up in the air and then landing on both feet, because he is five and that’s his level of coordination.
But the thing I can’t describe adequately and yet you must all hear about is that then he told me his favorite song is “Old Town Road” and then he sang it to me, with great emotion and feeling and artistry, and my friends, it was wonderful, it was the most blessed thing 2019′s zeitgeist has bestowed upon me.
