dragonlady7currently visiting my BFF on my way to the farm, went to the Lilac Festival in Rochester yesterday and today am just lazing about on a rainy day looking out at their beautiful yard.
highlights are mostly Dave jokes (my dude and her dude are both named Dave), and children-isms; she's got a 6yo and a 4yo.
The Daves went foraging for lunch and returned with sushi and salads from the grocery store, and the children were being fed home-cooked food, but the dad-Dave had also picked up a small box of the Chinese takeout stuff they like-- lo mein, and some spring rolls-- and offered it to them.
The 4yo girl clutched hands to her chest, eyes shining as she gazed upon the spring rolls, and said, "Daddy, how did you know what I wanted?"
It was very sweet and utterly sincere.
"Because I pay attention to what you like, sweetheart," Dad-Dave said.
The 6yo was working on some Lego; he'd gotten a sheet of instructions that indicated that he had to disassemble one thing he'd built in order to make the other thing in the kit. "This won't take days to take apart," he said.
I misheard him, and said, "How many Daves will it take to take apart?"
He found this hilarious, and the two Daves chimed in: "These are the Daves of our lives," "these are the Daves I know", and such. We make these sorts of jokes a lot.
Dude finished it off with a solemnly-intoned "Mama said there'd be Daves like this."
