gentle reminder that mother’s day is not for all moms. it’s for good moms. abusive and neglectful moms do not deserve to be celebrated on this day. and if you are the child of one of those moms, you should feel no guilt in ignoring the day altogether. I hope you can stay strong kiddos! ♡
Gentle reminder that not everyone’s cut out to be a mother. And that sometimes they don’t realize this until it’s way too fucking late. Gentle reminder that some of us did the best we could, and it still wasn’t good enough and we feel pretty fucking shitty enough already, thank you.
This is a perspective I don’t see, ever, and yet it has to exist; there’s so much pressure to be a mother, I nearly convinced myself I wanted to, for a while there.
If you need to escape fatherhood you can blame the children’s mother, and that’s pretty societally accepted, and people just shake their heads and it’s treated as something that can’t be helped, and any damage done to the children by it is as inevitable as the weather. If you need to escape motherhood, well– I mean, I can’t even call a script to mind?
I have a friend who is suffering terribly as a mother; she believed since childhood that this was What One Wanted in life and she’s gotten there and is furious that it’s not anything that it was cracked up to be. But the only way out is through; I told her that at one point when I didn’t know what to say, and she bought herself a pendant that says that and is wearing it every day.
Gentle reminder that Mother’s Day was originally an anti-war activism holiday, and so fuck that shit all around.
