As it was going by in realtime I was like “this is probably something I would like” but hadn’t read the thing (and let’s be real 99% of the shit that goes by I don’t read or watch or sometimes even find out what the thing actually is) and I let it go, but for once I was like wait I know where that went, so I went back and looked.

listen, small fandoms make you search the tags. it’s literally like the third time i’ve ever searched a tag.

There are a lot of great tropes this one hits without being in any way cliched or predictable; it's very original and has a wonderful protagonist who manages to be both a realistically traumatized biracial teenager AND a pure-of-heart fairy tale hero.

But like. Don't be turned-off by the glossary. You'll need it but you get used to it.

also, oh, i meant to fix this post, tumblr mangled it-- and ate my response? i'm not sure. it's my Tumblr friend @csevet (whose handle is in fact the name of a major character from the book) responding to an ask I sent them about their 17 page Goblin Emperor tag. I won't be screeching for seventeen pages, probably.
