today's self-indulgent photo post
Dec. 19th, 2018 02:48 pmI don't do much concert photography for the simple reason that I don't go to concerts much.
So I've seen this one particular band three times, and that seems like a lot, except that I saw them in... 2011, 2017, and 2018, so honestly that's not really that much concertgoing.
I shot photos at the first concert because that very day I had purchased a new-to-me lens of exceedingly large size and high-level specs. (Ok, for me. For the technically-minded, the lens was a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 with vibration reduction, and it wasn't the newest version available and it cost me as much to have it repaired as it had to buy it in the first place, but it still cost less than a new lens.)
So, anyway. Here are a bunch of photos from three concerts of Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers. if you like semi-sarcastic but extremely earnest post-rock alt-semi-country that mostly sounds like the late 90s, by the band whose best-known piece is the literal theme song to King of the Hill, you'd really enjoy them.

Tell me why I gotta drain a bottle dry before I can cry, before I can cry over you?

Date: 2018-12-19 08:53 pm (UTC)A lot of that is that the first one was at a concert in a music space where they went in for neutral-colored lights, a fair bit. The other two concerts were in a parking lot where the lighting folks were super into pink and green lights, it's impossible to get naturalistic colors out of that no matter what you do with your white balance.
