I am still deciding whether to spring for Flickr Pro as well. On my to-do list for holiday break is “see if Google has free photo storage and then decide if I’m willing to break down and finally get a Google account.”
So I went and looked at my Google account.

Upshot as per feedback on DW is that the Google Photos hosted image is visible to… some people but not all. I am wondering what the difference is– perhaps it’s only visible to people with Google accounts who are logged-in in that browser? Perhaps it’s the above who are people who I have previously emailed??
At any rate, you can hotlink to Google Photos images but it won’t reliably work and you can’t troubleshoot it.
So i’m going to go ahead and buy Flickr Pro sometime in January if nobody buys it for me (it’s on a gift list I gave to family, too, I’m not *just* hoping an Internet Fairy stops by), because it does seem like the best option and I’ve got a lot of shit up there now anyway.
(The new limit for free users will be 1000 photos or videos, so it’s doable if you just need something to hold your memes; I need more than that, so.)
