guys this is a very good read, it even touches on how purity culture ruins progressive movements and it was absolutely a problem before tumblr

I've seen this article before, but for some reason part of what you snipped here really hit me: "Is someone actively enjoying making you feel like shit?" The vicious glee behind so much of ship bashing and character hate is just astounding.

yes. I did not choose the pullquote-- it's a tumblr reblog and so that was what the OP pullquoted-- but I rebelogged it because that was what struck me so strongly. People LOVE to hate, and the real issue is how much they love to actively hate. Ugh.
