i just cut all of the extraneous crap from my NaNo working document (and pasted it into the scraps bin doc I keep around to mine for ideas, i’m not an animal) and my wordcount’s now 34,000 words.
well, it’s more than i thought i’d have left. but it does indicate to me that this first section needs tightening, because i haven’t hit the actual plot beats yet and this is all introductory material.
anyway, maybe i can start from here, anyway, and make a real book? who knows.
