I have lengthier and more organized thoughts on this subject but three things in particular about Trump’s most recent temper tantrum re: immigration make me want to pull a blanket over my head and scream:
1. So-called “caravans” are not in any way a new thing; they’re a safety-in-numbers response to the hair-raisingly dangerous journey that is trying to cross Mexico - which is why when you look at the pictures they’re full of women and children - and they’ve been happening organically for YEARS
2. There’s (supposed to be) free movement between Northern Triangle countries +Nicaragua, it’s literally the subject of an international treaty
3. YOU HAD ZERO ISSUES WITH SIGNING OFF ON AID TO HONDURAS WHEN THE GOVERNMENT WAS MURDERING PROTESTERS IN THE STREETS, YOU UNBELIEVABLY EVIL MOTHERFUCKERS
