ugh i could not sleep last night
Gave up around 4:45. Now just steeling myself to finish getting dressed and load the car. I might as well just go; I’m heading to the farm today, there’s family doings, if I get to Troy in time I can relieve B-I-L at the farmer’s market for a bit, since middle-little is out of town (she has an amazing ability to have made other plans every time a family thing comes up, but i can’t blame her, we didn’t find out eldest sister was visiting with her kids this weekend until like last week, she never gives much notice), and then I’ll still be able to get to the farm in time for the Workshop On Herbal Teas my sister is apparently giving, which I’d like to see.
I feel like butt, though.
Oh I was super super super cranky last night, largely from current events but I think something else must have been going on and repeated technology malfunctions combined with my coworker being unnecessarily condescending really didn’t help (he was like ‘did you try restarting’ and i’m like ‘you can literally see my monitor and see that i have just finished the process of restarting what the fuck is wrong with your eyes’, among other things of that type). Anyway, I got home and was moodily poking at the Internet, and preordered a book, and then while I was there realized that Ursula Vernon had been posting that Clockwork Boys was on sale on Kindle, and I’ve tried to borrow that from the library and they don’t have it so I bought it and devoured it and of course bought the sequel and devoured it, so that was rewarding.
I don’t play RPGs or read Classic Sword And Sorcery mass-market paperbacks very much so I had never actually considered the concept of the paladin as a character, but I found hers a refreshing take nonetheless. That’s really who I like to write, too. I mean, my Kes Dameron is basically a paladin, only the thing he’s a martyr to is the concept of the Rebellion. So.
And, shit, the abandoned novel with the god-possessed berserker warrior guy was, well, based around that whole concept. He was even sworn to celibacy.
I guess you write cliches without even realizing you’re doing it. Anyhow– so there’s that.
Oh good it just started raining. Time to go load my car in the fucking rain. Woohoo.
