hm okay for the record, pedometer is definitely wrong; i absolutely walked 1.4 miles, and the average human takes 2,000-2,500 steps per mile, so. we’re going to reset that baby and try again on the way home. that selfsame pedometer registers 2,100ish steps per mile for 6′3″ Dude, so my 5′7″ ass should definitely be registering more than 1600 steps for 1.4 miles.
it doesn’t matter, it really doesn’t, and yet. Argh! I want official robotic recognition of my activity levels, ok! Hmph.

hmph that cannot be right. (I did not reset it; I just noted that it was at 1808 steps when I left work to walk the 1.4 miles home. This means that it registered precisely 733 steps on my walk home, which this morning it had logged as 1165 steps for that exact same route (and I mean, I even crossed the street in the same places– exact same route).
meanwhile, my watch:
Neither one seems quite right, but the watch is a lot closer to the distance I actually traveled today, which is at a bare minimum if you don’t count the trips up and down the stairs and around the rooms at work, almost 3 miles. yeah it’s a fair bit high– I ran up and down the stairs like four or five times, not more than that, but I don’t know why. The pedometer, though– I wore it all day! Clipped to the identical spot on my waistband that Dude clips it to his. He’s gotten reasonable readings out of it for months now– he mostly bought it for our trip, and it was actually fairly close to what my watch said for most of those days. It’s not like, a smart one or anything, it’s not supposed to have learned his gait or whatever– it’s just a dumb little pedometer.
Anyway. I remain completely at a loss as to how far I have actually been walking in a day. It doesn’t matter. I just wanted to put a number on a thing, and I am thwarted.
