I did it, I walked to work, huzzah!
It was pouring fucking rain the whole way, pausing only to absolutely bucket down for a few minutes in the middle there. But I had a heavy-duty raincoat and also an umbrella.
My lower legs are soaked but it’s actually climate-controlled in here, the only problem is of course wet denim gets itchy on legs, but. I’ll live.
It’s a very easy walk. I can get away from the main street pretty promptly, and be on suburbanish back-streets most of the way. Sidewalks are reasonable, only a little uneven– it’s just that when it’s bucketing rain, some of them will have low spots with up to three inches of water in them, which… I’m wearing waterproof shoes (still bedecked with the dust of Kyrgyzstan– well, no more!) but they only go so high. So my socks are damp too.
Oh well! It was worth doing.
Except I don’t have keys to get in, and nobody’s around with authority to duplicate keys, so I had to stand at the door for a gross and wet interlude that I didn’t particularly enjoy.
