I care! I even followed you on IG to not miss out!
Did you? Fantastic, you’re one of the people on my list of “oh phooey if Tumblr goes kablooie I’ll never find them again”, so that’s lovely to hear. I was just followed by a spate of accounts with Cyrillic handles who noticed I geotagged KG Republic, so. (I accidentally clicked on one and it was an aesthetics and cosmetic surgery spa so I just got a whole eyeful of before-and-after photos I didn’t really need in my life, lol.) I may have followed you back, if you’re the private account, but no need to actually respond to my invitation, that was mostly just so I could keep tabs on what was what. I am really terrible at keeping track of
I just discovered that, alas, my phone is locked to AT&T so I can’t use the MegaCom SIM I just bought, we’re having to put it in Dude’s smartphone instead, which is not locked. (We had planned on mine because I am more social-media active, but, crucially, of our two aging smartphones, mine retains a superior battery life.) Sigh. So, if our next hotel doesn’t have wifi…
it turns out you can’t just buy a SIM card though, and actually use it, now we have to find a store and fill out a form that’s not available in English to actually get it activated. Fortunately the form is available online so now we’re spending the early morning translating it bit by bit so we know what to fill out.
This is the first time in my life, I’m realizing, that I’m traveling to a country where you can’t just lazily expect people to have enough English to get by. I brought a little phrasebook I compiled myself but it is Inadequate and I have been too jet-lagged. They’re super nice, and mostly haven’t had trouble figuring out what I’m trying to ask for, but I’m realizing there’s just stuff I don’t know how to ask for and so can’t get.
Today we have to get everything done that we need to, because tomorrow is Independence Day and there’ll be a huge parade and such.
