so my phone is chronically out of space.
here’s the thing. it’s a 16gb phone. with a 32gb micro sd in it too.
and i have it set to store all photos it takes with the camera app on the microSD card.
and i automatically back the photos up to DropBox and after a while, move them from there onto my computer hard drive, and delete them both from DropBox and from the phone.
I also frequently go through the folders where it deposits Instagram and Twitter and Hangouts and Messenger photos, and manually drag them onto the SD card, and delete them from the phone storage.
And yet. And yet! I have 15.5GB of shit on my phone’s internal storage, and can’t update my apps.
Dude just literally spent two hours poking around trying to figure out where the fuck all the files were. He managed to delete 3 GB of shit. But that’s it.
So there are no photos on my phone, no videos, no screenshots, no image files, no PDFs, nothing in my Downloads folder… I’ve installed about six apps that didn’t come on the phone, and have deleted all the ones it let me delete that came loaded on it. (So, uh, basically none; they’re all undeletable. Ugh.)
and still, somehow, I’ve got over 12GB of storage space taken up by… my operating system and apps, and nothing else.
It’s very mysterious. And annoying.
I feel like if my phone had 32GB built in it would have 30 GB full the same way. I just feel like that’s how it works.
And Dude, a software engineer, just spent two actual hours, no exaggeration, trying to find shit to delete and mostly, not finding anything I didn’t already know about.
It’s very frustrating, is what it is.
