OK OK so this collection of cameras we bought is full of mid-century and pre-war beauties, high-end stuff, rare Canon rangefinders and Leicas and odd Nikon lenses and super-primitive box-cameras and what-have-you, but of everything in the dozens of bins and boxes, this is what I pounced on to list first on Etsy.

I have no idea if it works, no idea if it ever worked; you can’t really get 110 film anymore and honestly even when you could it was crap. These cameras took terrible pictures.
But in this age of ubiquitous cellphone cameras, this little thing is just so emblematic of a very-recent but very-profoundly bygone era. I mean really. I mean *really*.
The box is bilingual English and French and it says copyright 1990 Kellogg’s Canada, so it’s clearly a border-town artifact. It’s this chintzy piece of plastic. But it’s just so…
Do you remember? Do you remember when it would have been such a keen novelty to have a camera on your keychain? Can you even fathom living your life without a miniature computer containing a high-quality camera (or two!) in your purse?
Man oh man. My mind is blown by this. I’m putting it up as a little vacation from all the complicated and beautiful antiques. Lookit this thing. Cripes.
The dude’s name was Cornelius Rooster, btw. And I remembered that. Funny what your brain makes space for, when I can’t remember the alarm code I use every morning to open the store door without elaborate mnemonics.
WE JUST FOUND ANOTHER ONE OF THESE. We’re going to move the department so we’re pawing through the last of the old bins of random shit and THERE IS A SECOND ONE OF THIS CAMERA.
