I was having a really annoying time in the hotel here, they have this meaningless security theater thing where you have to use your room card to get the hotel elevator to stop at the floor you choose (but it doesn’t prevent you from being on the elevator, and of course you can get off on any floor where someone else has called the elevator, and WHAT’S MORE, there’s a TOTALLY UNLOCKED STAIRWELL you can take freely unobserved to ANY FLOOR, and I’m on the 5th floor and my bestie and her family are on the 4th and it is a PAIN IN THE ASS), and anyway I had just stomped up the stairs for the zillionth time, and opened the door and there was a $5 bill lying on the floor. Canadian, but, I mean, we’re in Canada.
So I picked it up. Ha, there, some little reward from Fate for my troubles.
And then I turned my head and there was the maintenance door open and the hotel maid’s cart sitting there, but no maid. But, clearly, right there.
I was like, this could not more obviously be a tip someone left for the maid that she dropped.
So I stepped into the maid’s closet and put the $5 onto the cart, because, clearly, it belonged there.
Anyway. I don’t really need $5 Canadian, but that’s somebody’s livelihood.
It cheered me up anyway, I guess, sort of.
