ughhhh after getting like 80 notifications that my eShakti dress was getting delivered today, I finally went and checked the tracking at like 10pm because bitch for real nobody’s showing up out here then and
no they just aren’t gonna deliver it today, they’ll deliver it “on the next movement date”.
Which means Monday. They only deliver on Saturday if you bought Saturday delivery specially.
I’ll be out of town for 10 days starting tomorrow.
So that shit is going to sit outside my house for a solid week.
Also, UPS and USPS both know that in this neighborhood, the front stoop is purely decorative and you leave packages next to the side door. However, FedEx just leaves shit on the front stoop for God and the high school kids and the people who rifle through people’s cars to see. I don’t now about DHL but I’m not assuming they’ll make the minimal effort not to do that.
I actually went and put a hold on our mail, via USPS. So I won’t be getting any mail.
But my new dress is going to sit out on my front fucking porch and either blow away or get stolen, unless I can think of someone to come get it for me. I ordered it 2 weeks ago thinking it wouldn’t be a problem, but I was wrong!

I don’t know anyone local that I’d really trust to come by and get it… do I? Ugh I don’t know.
Could I leave a note on my front door that says, like, hey, couriers, don’t leave packages sitting out here, please put them somewhere sensible, like one of the entrances to the house that humans use? But then if I put that note there, anyone who wanders by and reads the note is going to be like… maybe i should check the back door and see if couriers have left things there. What if I ended the note with “please remove this note”?
No, they won’t do that, they literally just won’t read it. They’d just put the package onto the note and walk away.
Ugh.
I tried a new thing, and I’m getting punished for it. Fantastic!
[ahem i could probably get dave’s mom to pick it up but we have a thing where she doesn’t come over to our house and doesn’t notice that we live like animals and it’s actually really important to our relationship that this gets kept up. none of my coworkers live locally, i work so far from my house. maybe one of dave’s coworkers that he carpools with could swing by on his way home and at least move it off the front fucking porch.]
Ugh I’m just so mad.
And like. Today at work I had to deal with customers being absolutely irrational about shipping shit. Someone sent a message on Amazon that simply said “What do you mean you can’t deliver my camera?!?!” and I was like… me… what?
SO I went to their order number, and looked at the tracking, and clicked on it, and I shipped it to them like, two weeks ago, and it crossed an international border and was given to another courier, and the last thing the tracking says is “out for delivery… no response… held for customer pickup” so I wrote back to the customer and was like “well, ma’am, I don’t know, since I’m not delivering it, but I’m assuming somebody left you a missed package notice and so you should follow the directions on it, maybe if they have a phone number you could contact them…”
And like, I get it. But DHL doesn’t have any contact info on their site for like… “questions about my order” etc., and eShakti has sent me three texts and four emails that all say delivery today, and so I didn’t make any arrangements to deal with this because they all said delivery today and I notice how suspiciously convenient it is that there were no notifications to tell me to cancel expecting that delivery today… hmmm…

And oh for the record i also placed an order with Land’s End for a new pair of pants for dude,a nd they had the bullshit thing where Sale Ends In Four Huors Act Now shit, and like. Fine. I placed the order. And the estimate was like… a week-long span, half of which was fine. So I wrote them, and was like, “the order I just placed? Shove it to the back of your queue so it arrives in the later part of that delivery estimate and we’ll be super cool.” And they wrote back right away and were like “No”, so. For the record. They are helpless to their automated systems, I guess.
(I get requests from customers to accomodate shipping schedules fucking constantly, and sometimes I’m like no, I can’t make it arrive that fast, not even with expedited shipping, because that’s just not how the Earth is shaped, but if it’s like, sit on this order for a day? of course I will. So fuck them, that was shitty of them.)
However, they use the US Mail, and you can have your mail held. Uh, without proving who you are, you can just do it online. So, for the record. You can just. Do that. I’ll let you know how it works out.
