On the good side, though, maybe I suck at writing, but I cleaned the filthy kitchen and did two loads of laundry last night to hang out today, which is gloriously sunny and has 0% chance of rain, so I feel okay about that. I even made breakfast out of fancy things Dude bought last weekend and then never ate– artisanal yogurt and english muffins– and was ready for work early. I’m going to Treat Myself to Junk Food for lunch, because I haven’t eaten any in a long time and I want some (probably hot dogs from Ted’s!), and I also bought Dude three new shirts and a new pair of pants, because he will not purchase himself new clothes and just keeps wearing old ones as they get more and more threadbare and faded. My eShakti dress for the wedding is slated to be delivered tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to that a lot.
This is sort of dumb, but right when I purchased the dress, which said it would take 10-14 days to come, they gave me a code to buy another at a discount. Now, I haven’t seen the first one yet, so I don’t know whether their sizing is correct. I don’t want to buy more until I’ve seen how the first one was, right? But the code they gave me expired after 7 days. … I’m really hoping they give me a code when my first one is delivered, because that’s the time when I’m more likely to buy another one. I also have a bunch of dresses that are getting threadbare/damaged/faded with age and I’d like to rotate them out and get new nicer ones– I got these at Target in a mad dash through their clearance section like ten years ago and I surely could do better– but again, I want to see how the first one fits, first, right??
I was supposed to be spending this week making a silk hair flower and some doll clothes and I have not done jack shit towards those projects, so now we’ll really have to see whether i can pull something out of my ass tonight, or if I just– don’t. But I figured, I could do the dishes last night with like, a gallon of hot water and half an hour during which I also got a load of laundry going, and Dude would have waited until 6pm to start the dishes and then done his use-up-all-the-hot-water immediately and-then-wash-the-dishes-in-cold-water-ew trick (where he just turns the water on full bore and lets it go down the sink while he piles up and then individually scrubs each dish, nowhere near the jet of water), and in the end would have left the kitchen filthy and covered in ants. So I boiled water on the stove, cleaned both sinks, cleaned the range top (which I had last cleaned shortly before I left town, and which had been covered in filth in the interim, just like normal, he’s wiped it down twice in twelve years so I don’t know what I expect here), and got all the dishes done and the sink strainer baskets cleaned and the compost emptied and cleaned out. I feel better about life.
