I gotta get up and at ‘em today but I just want to sit for a minute.
Family is coming over for brunch for Mother’s Day. I wanted to make an elaborate thing but sister vetoed it and is making a strata or something. No, a frittata. Since there are so many goddamn eggs here, that’s a reasonable thing to do.
I did not get the yurt set up yesterday because it was raining. instead I sat and chatted with @unicornduke, which was lovely.
I have just the wall set up, because we repaired it. I’m considering whether to take that down, which would take thirty seconds, or get all the rest of the shit out and set up, which would take two hours probably.
I can probably swing the two hours, but then I wouldn’t have a chance to really make sure all the ropes were right and the various canvases etc. were ship-shape, because I’m leaving today.
I mentioned this to Veg Manager, that I didn’t want to take the time to set up but I also don’t want to take down the wall, haul it back across the farm and back upstairs into the loft.
He said, “You know, the greenhouse, that’s right there– we’re not using the area right behind the potting bench anymore, so if your yurt thing fits in there, you could leave it there.” That’d be directly across the road and not up any stairs. “It wouldn’t be in the way, for a week.”
So I might take him up on that. That would help a lot. And I don’t think the wood would get mildewed, being in the damp greenhouse; it’s sunny enough there, and they open the walls every day now because it’s warm out.
I can set the yurt up when I come back; it’s not nearly the crunch I thought it was going to be, since my schedule has changed slightly. So I’m going to count on that, I think, instead of forcing my family outdoors on Mother’s Day to fetch and carry for me.
