i love fashion and i always enjoy reading other people trying to decide about a Fancy Outfit, I too have to spend a LOT OF TIME deciding about Fancy Outfits. What with me and 2 girls and extremely posh inlaws to consider, that Christening in Madrid in November absorbed a huge mental fashion energy from me
oh, oh gosh. yes. having to have Fashion Sense for the young as well is like. Extra.
Farmbaby has, since she was old enough to operate drawers on her own, insisted on picking out her own outfits and demonstrated a really strong attraction to certain color schemes. I’m a little concerned that she’s going to wind up far more fashionable than me. At the moment she’s still working on basic concepts, but her color sense is actually pretty good. Sometimes she wears tights as pants, though. I don’t blame her, but I do insist that if she’s got them on backwards we turn them around the right way before we leave the house, because I’m no fun and also she likes to pull her dresses up over her head in public and I feel like nobody’s gonna judge me for that but they are gonna judge me if her tights are on backwards.
But throwing in actual like, posh and urban sorts of people– yikes! Yikes. The last wedding I went to was held on a farm, by the uh, blue-collar side of my dude’s family, and while it’s not that none of them do fashion at all, they’re also very uh… salt of the earth sorts of people, and so I kind of know my place among them, and know they are prone to mistaking eccentricity for brilliance, or at least are kind enough to pretend they do. (They are very kind people.
This is the other side of Dude’s family, the European immigrants, and sure they came as refugees but that was a while ago and some of them have lived in cities and among society since then, so Who Even Knows, they might be Posh. I sure as fuck don’t know.
I also happen to be visiting Montreal for the first time in my life as an adult and not on a school trip confined to a tour group, the weekend before this, and a part of me is like, “I should shop in Montreal” and a part of me is like “you will be there with several small children and it’s perfectly likely no one will sleep the entire weekend” so I’m not going to make any plans.
