i started to write a thing sakas was in. i want to know more about her too!!!
she’s a BABE tbh
I have a completely unwritten thing that i’ve mentally outlined for her in the as-yet-still-unwritten future parts of the Kes and Shara epic. I’ve posted up to a point, and then I have a ton of disconnected fragments beyond that, with a framework-sketch of what i think happens– they swap serious injuries and accidents and dramas and such– but Sakas makes her appearance closer to the end of the war, and i have a whole thing filled in.
She’s just lost a good friend, and is hurting and not at her best but the Rebels don’t have a ton of time to address problems with trauma in their ranks, so also Kes is going through a bad patch of trauma-induced mutism when they meet, and she thinks he’s stuck-up and judging her and takes it badly, and he’s kind of in survival mode so he has no spare fucks to give about what she thinks of him, and neither is at their best but they’re both reasonably competent despite that, and at some point something happens and they save each other and become quite good friends. He does something that earns her respect, and gets promoted to sergeant somewhere around here, and that’s why she’s so sort of… subservient in the like, two panels we have of her in canon. (This is a very vague summary of something that I’ve only handwavey-ly imagined but trust me there’s tons of angst. That’s how I roll. It’s probably extremely violent and bloody and Kes is extremely stoic and noble. That’s how this always goes.)
I also have mentally sketched out that she’s a lesbian and they have a continuously-hilarious inside joke where Kes is a total downer whenever she wants to girl-watch because he’s like “eh not as hot as my wife” about literally every mortal creature and it becomes a running, but private, joke, because Kes won’t participate in any ribaldry and has a reputation as kind of a prude because of it, and she’s the only person he’ll say anything about his wife to, and that’s as detailed as he’ll get.
Anyway I hadn’t gotten as far as her surviving the war, but of course she does, and I bet she’d be extremely amusing as a ranch visitor. And, like all the others who knew Kes during the war, she’s delighted to find out that when the guy is not in survival shutdown mode, he not only actually talks, he’s also pretty funny.
I don’t know much about Mikkians so I don’t know if I’m right but I bet they don’t do live births and so she’s totally confused by Poe as a baby but once he’s big enough to play rough she has a great time.
Norasol, of course, thinks Sakas is approximately the funniest person ever to live, and they get along well. She’s perfectly willing to girl-watch with Sakas.
