Yesterday morning I dressed for work on the farm, not sure who was going to do what, but it ended up that I stayed inside with the kiddo, and then Sister and Farmbaby and I went to the museum. So I changed clothes quickly, as I was in muddy jeans.
“You already looked beautiful,” Farmbaby said earnestly. “You didn’t have to change! But you look beautiful now, too,” she concluded.
(We went to the NYS Museum in Albany and I got to leave while Sister and Farmbaby were playing in the kids’ area, and go commune with the Cohoes Mastodon skeleton instead. I never get to read all the placards, you know?? Weird thing of the moment: #1 he was my favorite exhibit as a kid, but he was in a cardboard box from 1965-1996, so what I’m actually remembering was the exhibit at the Cohoes Library featuring a replica, and #2 I have vivid memories of saying hi to him every Friday during my internship at the State Library upstairs, my senior year of high school, 1997, but the base of the stand he’s on now says he was on display in the front window of the museum until 2006– but lists the start date as 1998.
