I stayed up late last night to get laundry done. We’re packing today, and I don’t like to tumble-dry a lot of stuff until it’s really dry– it tends to shrink and wear out faster and such. I usually tumble stuff for a couple of minutes to release wrinkles, then hang it on hangers. That takes 12 hours or so, in the winter with the heat on, for stuff to get fully dry after that. So I had to do it last night.
Dude not only noticed but also thanked me for doing that! Usually the laundry goes unremarked, so. I’m pleased. (I also know I’m sort of OCD about it and don’t really… need… praise, exactly, for being so weird about some of it, but. It *is* effort, whether or not it’s justified, so I do appreciate that being noticed.)
I don’t have, like, a model relationship that anyone should aspire to particularly, but we have been together over 15 years at this point, and one thing I do think is important is that we try to remember to thank each other for stuff. Even if it’s someone’s “turn” to do something, we still try to acknowledge the thing.
There’s just. Well, life is hard and it’s hard to communicate even with someone who knows you well, and it’s easy to get dragged down by mundane bullshit. So. Anyhow.
I’ve already made two dinner dates and one lunch date while at the farm for the coming week, so I feel like I’m doing that well.
