Listen. Not only had I graduated college, I’d stopped paying attention to popular culture completely by then.
I’m literally not sure what emo is. I straight-up completely failed to notice it was happening. I noticed that the kids weren’t washing their hair anymore but like, in a different way, and they had bangs or something again, and boys could wear girls’ jeans now, and I sort of vaguely nodded approvingly at these children because like, well good for them I guess, when I was their age nobody washed their hair either so y’know, solidarity. But. I don’t know what any of that was about and at this point I’m too afraid to ask.
