Haha. I can relate. �� The initial sex scene between my characters was kinky spanking after a really sweet, chaste night. It was just where they *were* in the moment!
Sometimes you just can’t– predict.
This is also sort of why I’m hesitant to write prompt fills or requests because i cannot tell you how many times I’ve set out to write something steamy only to find out it’s not, or vice-versa. (Christ, in 2003 I set out to write a historical romance, heavy on the history and really light on the romance, based on people from my own family tree, and had to abandon it because it rapidly took a hard left into super steamy and my grandma was like ‘so about the family tree thing?’ and i was like *sweats nervously* uhh i didn’t have time… I couldn’t write it! It was just wrong. Clearly I was not in the right place for that sort of thing.) (this is also why i don’t have my real life people read my stuff ever because you never know when that’s going to happen.)
Sometimes you can kind of wrench things back on track, mostly by throwing out huge swathes of what you’ve written, but it can be really difficult, and sometimes that just kills a project.

Also, can I get tagged ‘cause it sounds super hot?
Ha, it’ll be the next chapter of this story. I dunno how hot it’ll really wind up being, the sex scene might not be proportionally that much of the story.
… I wonder if I just did a supercut of that whole series that was just the sex scenes how long it would be and how much of the plot of it you’d still get. I didn’t mean for it to be like that but those two, their relationship has a really strong sexual element to it and that’s where a lot of their character development has unfolded. I’m actually sort of self-conscious about it, because I came up with a whole Space Latinxs thing to go along with it and then they’re– it’s Problematic in a way I didn’t intend to be. Again: you can’t always predict where a thing is going to go, and if I’d set out to plan it, that’s not where I’d’ve gone. But at this point I’m a couple hundred thousand words deep, and their relationship is a complicated and living thing based not only on passion but also on a whole web of quickly-forged connections and I’m really enjoying it. But it’s not what I planned. At all.
