“I get really frustrated in conversations about sexual assault (rape, child molestation, sexual harassment, “weird dates,” all of that and more) when people try to push a narrative of “any you could have done this!” to the audience. Because most of the audience are not serial rapists, but “anyone could have done this, it was just a mistake” is one of the tools that serial rapists use to hide behind.
I mean, it is likely true that some people in the audience are rapists. But, also, they’re not rapists by accident. They know exactly what they are doing, and how to cover for it. I wish people would stop giving them cover.”
