Yeah, it’s definitely…there. (It’s certainly not bad, it just doesn’t say much.) The pace and focus of comics are just not to my taste, I guess. However, I will totally go buy TFA and maybe Princess Leia just for the art, so thanks for the heads up!
Yeah, it was just yesterday, one-day-only thing, so I’m glad I caught it. I did wind up getting Leia and the two volumes of Poe Dameron, I’ll save them for a rainy day. I have a monochrome-display Kindle, so comics are sort of… a dicey proposition on there, but you can read them on your laptop if you can figure out how. I finally had to Google it, Amazon does not make it obvious how to access your ebook library from your browser!!
I just had to scrape through my browser history to find it. It’s read.amazon.com. That’s how you get to it. Is it linked to from like, anywhere? No! Fucking hell.
Anyway.
I’d already read most of the comic in jpg format, I think– all the pages with images of the character exist as reference photos by now, so I had an approximate idea. I had the suspicion that there might be more, though– and no, there really wasn’t much more, it’s very brief and light. It still manages to imply some things that I contradict in my stories, but mostly I can just consider it hilarious that even with such a scant canon I managed not to comply, LOL.
But there are some great badass Shara things that weren’t clear enough from the context otherwise, so I’m glad to have read it.
I bought the Phasma one on an impulse, too, only because what’s her name wrote it. The lady who did Jem and the Holograms, which I haven’t read but appreciate exists.
LOL sometimes I pretend I know/care about comics.
NOW, I might mostly get off the Internet to avoid spoilers. I was toying with not hurrying to see TLJ and just letting myself get spoiled, but there’s a local theatr that’s this really cool old-fashioned landmark and they’ve got a couple showings of it, and I think that’s managed to get Dude motivated to make it a priority, so we might go tonight. So I guess I won’t read the spoilers!!
It seems to be polarizing, but that doesn’t surprise me really– TFA was brand-new and had no baggage, and now we’ve had two years to settle into The One True Fandom camps and extrapolate Deep Political Things from each character’s forty seconds of screentime in the first movie, not to mention literally two years of fanon crufted on top of all that, so literally every decision they make for TLJ is going to be Controversial in a way that TFA just wasn’t.
