In the back of my mind I’m sort of bracing for The Last Jedi to just nuke all my Star Wars shit– well, the entire Home Out In The Wind series, anyway; the benefit of writing prequel shit about an era nobody really cares much about is that The Lost Kings will be just fine thanks– so I’m really trying to get the last few bits of my epilogues done for Home.
I have like, 8k words done of the homecoming to Yavin V, and that’s going ok, and it does finally, finally include some kind of reckoning to explain Poe and Kes’s totally different perspectives on their falling-out (though I worry, after like, 2 years of buildup, that it’s not dramatic enough). But I’m still trying to work in the last little bit I wrote of Rey’s sexual self-awakening. if I can cram that in… but maybe it won’t fit in this update. Still.
It’s kind of my last chance, I figure; once the new shit comes out, nobody’s gonna want to read stuff that’s now all A/U.
Hopefully I can time it right and people will be excited, though, LOL.
At least, for my own sake, I want to wrap it up. I never get to finish shit, and that’s just how I am as a person but it’d be nice to do something out of character for once.
Jess Pava was suddenly at Rey’s elbow, leaning in toward Kes. “Captain Dameron, sir,” she said, “did I hear you say the phrase Poe’s baby holopics?”
Kes regarded her a moment, inscrutable. “None of that sir bullshit inside my house,” he said.
“Yessir,” Jess said, but her expression twinkled with mischief, and Kes couldn’t keep a straight face either. “I mean, mister.”
“Call me Kes,” he said.
“Call me Jess,” she answered.
“We can rhyme,” Kes said. “Fantastic.”
